Courtney Bearer made history when she was crowned the 80th Miss West Virginia. She will now represent the Mountain State at Miss America, making history again as the first to compete in the talent competition with a hula hoop routine.
Courtney is dedicating her year as Miss West Virginia 2025 to raising awareness about the importance of heart health through her community service initiative, “Connecting with Cardio.”
Raising money for the American Heart Association, one of Miss America’s newest partners, has been a priority for Courtney. From organizing hula-thons and heart walks to fundraising for the Go Red for Women Campaign, she believes awareness is key. She has contributed to a published blog and posts hula hoop tutorials with heart health tips to keep her community engaged and educated. Courtney is creating lasting change to make cardiovascular health achievable, empowering, and fun for all West Virginians.
A Summa Cum Laude graduate of West Virginia University, Courtney received dual degrees in Marketing and Advertising. She is a Reed College of Media Outstanding Senior Award recipient, a two-time National Dance Alliance National Champion, and served as President of the WVU Dance Team. Courtney has choreographed dances for WVU Basketball Games and performed in the NFL Hall of Fame Parade.
